AO3 Dark Mode

How do I turn on Dark Mode for AO3?

Archive of Our Own uses site skins instead of a conventional dark-mode switch. Its official dark, high-contrast skin is called Reversi.

Turn on Reversi

1. Sign in to AO3.
2. Scroll to the Customize section in the site footer.
3. Select Reversi.

To make the choice persistent, open Preferences, find Your site skin, open Public Site Skins, and select Use for Reversi. To switch back, choose Default in the footer or revert to the default skin in Preferences.

Without an account, AO3 may not save the skin preference. Browser extensions can provide a temporary alternative, but review their permissions before installing them.
